Help with Norcold N2175 fridge?
UPDATE: Have followed directions and turned unit off for an hour and then restarted. No luck - fridge will not cool - even in the dead of night where there is NO possibility that ambient temperature remains an issue. Going to leave unit turned off overnight and try again early morning to see if unit will function.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
2024 Unity TB - Norcold N2175 fridge.
Inside temperature of the coach never exceeded 79degF, and the outdoor temperature never exceeded 91degF.
We shutdown the fridge for an hour between 9 and 10 am. Then turned it back on before we left for the day. When we returned to the coach late afternoon (with the fridge side of the coach now shaded) the freezer was 40degF and the fridge almost 59degF!
The Norcold N2175 is a compressor-based refrigerator (LTV-original-install) with no external intake or relief vents on the exterior of the coach. The fridge is vented only in to/out of the coach interior. I do understand how the shaded or unshaded coach on the exterior side affects will influence the refrigerator's performance, since the sun will heat the exterior face of the insulated box becoming an additional heating load the fridge must overcome. Thing is, once the sun sets the fridge should then start to ‘catch-up’ again - but it never does.
No aftermarket fans have been installed, and the fridge is loaded - but not fully.
Strangely, the refrigerator did what it should (maintained refrigerator and freezer below appropriate set points for three days (on and off battery and utility power). We’ve reached our ‘for the week’ location, but it’s unacceptable that neither the fridge nor the freezer are functioning.
Very disappointing.
Did I mention that when the compressor is running - it sounds like water bubbling in the interior of the fridge?
ORIGINAL: Question for recent owners of LTVs with Norcold N2175 refrigerator in warm climates… (not Dometic or Truma refrigerator). The refrigerator portion is not maintaining temperature (>50degF), and review of the troubleshooting section of the owners manual suggests that the unit may have “Overheat due to high ambient temperature” for which the solution is reportedly “Turn off fridge for 1 hour, vent vehicle, switch to day mode”. No improvement with the second and third suggestions - so attempting the first - reluctantly. Anyone else with similar experience? Guidance?
